Jacket 744N-able N-sight, Addigy, Zimperium

A register is worth exactly what its worst line is worth.

Four lines resting on one foundation. Nothing can be patched, filtered, enrolled or defended if nobody wrote it down. This jacket exists to make the list of equipment true first, and then to hold the equipment on that list in a condition somebody is able to defend.

In this jacket

Prices arrive live from billing. Whatever goes into the file waits for you, however long the reading takes.

The list before anything clever

Nearly every uncomfortable finding in an assessment traces back to a machine that appeared on no list. The laptop a departing partner bought. The workstation moved to the second site during a refit. The tablet living in a treatment room, used by whoever happens to be on shift that day.

N-able N-sight carries the register and everything following from it on a single agent: the list, health readings, patch delivery, scripts, remote sessions. Filtering rides that identical agent, and that is why no box needs racking inside a supply closet nobody has opened since the building work.

Apple hardware and handsets are separate problems

A Windows management tool asked to look after Macs and iPads produces an unhappy compromise that pleases nobody at either end. Addigy handles Apple equipment the way Apple intends it treated, which starts to matter as soon as an office holds more than a handful of them.

Handsets are a third case again. Zimperium runs on the phone and forms its view on the phone, which is what a clinician on a hospital guest network genuinely needs, and it is a very different proposition from a service obliged to phone home before it has an opinion.

Remote Monitoring and Management

N-able N-sight, carrying the register

The register itself. One agent handles the hardware list, the health readings, patch state, scripting and remote sessions over Windows, macOS and Linux, and takes on tablets and phones under device management. Everything further down this jacket assumes the register is honest.

  • A hardware list true on the day you read it, not on the day somebody last typed one up.
  • Patch delivery on a timetable, producing a report that can be handed to whoever asked.
  • Remote sessions for the ordinary faults, so nobody carries a machine to the back office.
  • Tablets and phones you already own are enrolled and managed from the same place.

Web and DNS Filtering

N-able N-sight, filtering off an agent already present

Filtering carried by an agent already in place. Nothing fresh needs racking anywhere, and no traffic gets steered through equipment you would then be maintaining. Category and reputation rules hold on your network and away from it, which is precisely the point once a laptop begins going home each evening.

  • Sight of traffic from browsers and from programs alike, private windows counted in.
  • Rules over category and reputation follow the machine out of the building.
  • Bandwidth reporting, which is frequently how a quietly compromised desk first gives itself away.

Apple Fleet Management

Addigy, running Apple hardware properly

Enrolment, configuration profiles, software delivery and compliance checking on macOS and on iOS, rather than a Windows tool improvising its way through. An office holding a room of iPads plus a few clinician laptops notices the difference inside a week.

  • Enrolment and configuration pushed from a profile rather than set by hand at each desk.
  • Software delivered and kept current over an estate spread across more than one site.
  • Compliance checks with remediation attached, so drift gets corrected and not merely noted.

Mobile Threat Defense

Zimperium, reaching its verdict on the phone itself

Defense running where the phone is. The handset itself reaches a verdict, so a device on some hotel network, unable to call out anywhere, stays covered all the same. This is the line for clinicians glancing at messages between rooms, and for managers approving payments from a car park.

  • Malware, phishing and hostile network conditions all caught on the device, no lookup required.
  • Jailbroken and rooted phones raised, along with risky applications from either store.
  • Interception attempts on wireless networks nobody at your office controls are caught and written up.

Honest scope

A register holds nothing nobody mentioned.

This jacket produces a truthful picture of the estate you declared. Four limits deserve reading before anybody starts counting devices.

  • Equipment nobody declared stays invisible. Nothing filed here discovers hardware you did not mention. Scoping is where that gets caught, and it is worth an hour of somebody senior sitting in the room.
  • Delivering a patch differs from a vendor writing one. Where a manufacturer has stopped producing fixes for whatever build your clinical software was validated against, no timetable shuts that hole. Separation on the network with a recorded decision is what shuts it.
  • Filtering rules on destinations and not on contents. It settles where a machine may go. It does not read what passes inside an encrypted session, and it should never be sold to you as though it did.
  • A personal handset needs its owner to agree. Where colleagues read work correspondence on phones they bought themselves, enrolment starts as a conversation with them and a ruling from you, well ahead of becoming a line on any invoice.
